Oura Ring 5 Is Here: Smaller, Smarter, and Built for Real Health Tracking

Oura just launched its newest smart ring, and this one feels different. The Ring 5 is noticeably smaller than the last version. It looks more like a regular ring now, which was one of the biggest complaints about older models.

The size dropped by 40%. It now measures 6.09mm wide and 2.29mm thick. The previous Ring 4 was 7.99mm wide and 2.88mm thick. That is a big difference when you are wearing something on your finger all day.

How did they make it smaller without losing features? Oura rebuilt everything inside. The sensors, battery, lighting, and internal parts were all redesigned from the ground up. Battery life still lasts up to nine days, so nothing was sacrificed there.

The sensors also got an upgrade. Better skin contact, stronger lights, and 12 signal pathways now work together. This means more accurate readings for more people, including those with different skin tones and finger shapes.

One of the biggest new features is blood pressure tracking during sleep. It works alongside a new nighttime breathing report. Both will be available to users in the United States, India, and the UAE from June onwards.

One thing to keep in mind: Oura calls this “trend detection,” not actual blood pressure measurement. There is a reason for that. The FDA treats medical measurements very differently from general wellness tracking. Oura is staying on the right side of that line.

There is also a new tool built for people taking GLP-1 medications. These are prescription drugs used for type 2 diabetes and weight management. Ozempic and Wegovy are well-known examples. The new GLP-1 Insights feature lets users log their doses, track side effects, note weight changes, and watch how their body responds over time.

This matters because these medications need regular monitoring. Side effects like stomach issues or changes in heart rate are common. Having all of that data in one place can make doctor visits more productive.

Oura also added a Health Records section for users. You can now bring in your medical history, current medications, lab results, and allergy information directly into the app. On top of that, a new partnership with Counsel Health lets users in 43 states speak with a licensed doctor through the app. That comes with an extra fee, but the option is there.

Put all of this together, and Oura is clearly building toward something bigger than a fitness tracker. It wants to be a health platform where your ring data, medical records, and doctor access all live in one place.

Prices start at $399 for the standard Silver and Black versions. If you want Gold, Stealth, Brushed Silver, or Deep Rose, that goes up to $499. You also need a membership to unlock all the features. That costs $5.99 a month or $69.99 a year. Pre-orders are open now, and shipping starts June 4.

The company has been growing fast. Oura saw 100% growth between 2024 and 2025 and was closing in on $1 billion in sales. An IPO is also reportedly in the works. The Ring 5 launch is part of that bigger push into serious health technology and connected care.
